Jazz is always evolving. Every generation leaves its own voice.

For more than two decades, the Taichung Jazz Festival has been more than an annual celebration of jazz. It has become part of the city's cultural identity—bringing world-class artists to Taichung while cultivating generations of young musicians through its long-running youth jazz education program.

PULSE celebrates that remarkable journey. Performed by the Taichung Jazz Festival Celebration Big Band, the concert brings together the festival's original theme compositions, each representing a chapter in its history. From the earliest festival anthems to recent commissions, these works reflect the evolving sound of Taichung and the enduring spirit of a festival that continues to grow with its city.

The musicians on stage are themselves part of this story. Many first encountered jazz through the festival's youth program before establishing their own artistic careers. Now they return to the festival as performers, breathing new life into the music that shaped their beginnings.

More than a retrospective, PULSE is a celebration of continuity, community, and creative legacy—an invitation to experience the heartbeat of Taichung through the music that has accompanied its jazz journey for more than twenty years.
