Toshi Fujii Trio ft. RIO

Led by jazz musician Toshimitsu Fujii, this special trio project welcomes acclaimed Japanese ukulele artist RIO (Rio Saito) for a unique cross-cultural collaboration.

Centered on Fujii's artistic philosophy of shared breath, the performance explores improvisation as a form of deep musical listening and connection. Rather than showcasing individual virtuosity, the ensemble creates music through subtle interaction, where every phrase grows naturally from the shared pulse between the musicians.

Featuring the distinctive combination of ukulele, piano, bass, and harmonica, the quartet brings together contrasting timbres in an intimate musical conversation. Each performance unfolds spontaneously, shaped by trust, sensitivity, and the spirit of the present moment.

Having studied ukulele in Hawaiʻi from an early age, RIO has developed a musical voice that bridges jazz, classical music, and Hawaiian traditions. Recognized as one of Japan's leading young ukulele artists, he was named to the Forbes Asia 30 Under 30 list in 2024. His appearance in Taiwan for this special collaboration promises an unforgettable encounter where improvisation becomes a shared language beyond words.
