Somm Jazz

Founded in 2021, Somm Jazz is a Taichung-based jazz collective dedicated to cultivating the local jazz scene through performance, education, and community engagement. With ensembles ranging from small combos and chamber big bands to full big bands and Latin jazz groups, the collective embraces a wide spectrum of jazz styles while creating diverse musical experiences for audiences.

In 2021, Somm Jazz launched the Improvisation Exchange Concert Series, an open platform designed to encourage creative collaboration among musicians and bring audiences closer to the spontaneity and excitement of jazz improvisation.

Beyond the stage, Somm Jazz actively integrates sustainability into its artistic practice by collaborating with businesses, local communities, and cross-disciplinary partners to amplify the social impact of music. Its initiatives have been recognized as an ESG collaboration case by the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA). Believing that music can foster connection, inspire well-being, and enrich urban life, Somm Jazz continues to use jazz as a force for positive cultural and social engagement.
