Founded in 2009, the Taipei Jazz Orchestra (TJO) has become one of Taiwan's leading large jazz ensembles, recognized for its artistic excellence, creative vision, and long-standing commitment to jazz performance, education, and cultural exchange.

Under the artistic direction of saxophonist Cheng-Yu Lee and conductor Gene Aitken, TJO has collaborated with internationally acclaimed artists while developing a distinctive artistic identity rooted in Taiwan. Beyond performing the jazz canon, the orchestra has championed original commissions, large ensemble works, and innovative arrangements. Its long-running Taiwan Folk Song Jazz Orchestra Project has reimagined more than fifty Taiwanese folk songs for big band, creating a unique dialogue between local culture and the language of jazz.

Equally committed to education, TJO has established youth, junior, community, and outreach ensembles, fostering new generations of jazz musicians and strengthening Taiwan's jazz ecosystem.

For this special performance, TJO pays tribute to the giants of jazz through the power of the big band tradition. Honoring legendary figures including Miles Davis and John Coltrane, the program celebrates the enduring legacy of artists whose music continues to shape jazz across generations.
