The Taichung Jazz Festival Celebration Big Band represents one of the festival's most meaningful long-term initiatives—its commitment to cultivating the next generation of jazz musicians.

For many years, the Taichung Jazz Festival has invested in youth jazz education through professional mentorship, structured training, and public performances, creating opportunities for young musicians aged 12 to 18 to discover jazz, develop their artistry, and gain invaluable stage experience. Many alumni of the program have since gone on to pursue professional careers, becoming active voices in Taiwan's contemporary jazz scene.

In 2022, the festival brought outstanding alumni back together under the theme of "Homecoming," forming the Taichung Jazz Festival Celebration Big Band. Musicians who first encountered jazz through the festival now return to the very stage that inspired them, celebrating not only their own artistic journeys but also the enduring spirit of the festival.

Today's performers were once young audience members looking up to the artists on this stage. Now, they have become the inspiration for the next generation. As When Giants Play reminds us, greatness is not only inherited—it is nurtured, shared, and passed forward. The Taichung Jazz Festival Big Band stands as a living testament to how a city's long-term commitment to jazz education can shape its future, one generation at a time.
