Every jazz musician has a voice of their own.
And that voice is often shaped through years of performance, collaboration, exploration, and learning.

As part of the 2026 Taichung Jazz Festival, internationally acclaimed jazz artists will be invited to Taiwan for Jazz Master, a special program that offers audiences and aspiring musicians the opportunity to learn directly from some of the most influential voices in jazz today. Through live demonstrations, improvisation coaching, and open discussions, these master artists will share their musical philosophies, creative journeys, and the experiences that have shaped their unique sound. From performance techniques and improvisational thinking to personal expression and ensemble interaction, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the artistry behind jazz.

More than a traditional class, Jazz Master is an open musical dialogue. Featured ensembles will engage directly with the guest artists, receiving professional guidance through live performance and real-time interaction. Observers will also have a unique opportunity to witness the creative process up close, experiencing how jazz is born through listening, responding, improvising, and collaborating.

Sometimes a single suggestion, a brief demonstration, or an unexpected conversation can become a defining moment in a musician’s artistic journey.

When the giants of jazz share their stories and experience, they do more than pass on knowledge - they inspire new possibilities. And through music, we discover new paths forward, new ideas to explore, and new voices waiting to be heard.
