Originating from the Youth Jazz Band training program, the Taichung Jazz Festival Celebration Big Band is a tangible result of deep-rooted local jazz education. Over the years, students have grown into professional musicians who continue to return and participate, forming a permanent jazz big band that carries generational heritage and the city’s vibrant energy.

This year, three jazz masters from New Orleans — Doug Stone, James Andrews, and Vernon Severin — are specially invited to perform across the sea, alongside master workshops to promote Taiwan-US musical exchange. From classroom to stage, Taiwanese young musicians will expand their understanding and love of jazz through improvisation, rhythm, and communication.

The Taichung Jazz Festival Celebration Big Band is more than just performers; they are witnesses and carriers of jazz culture. This collaboration will showcase the most moving intersection of local accumulation and international dialogue.
