This year’s Taichung Jazz Festival proudly partners with the New Orleans Jazz Museum to invite three heavyweight musicians from the birthplace of jazz—trumpeter James Andrews, saxophonist Doug Stone, and percussionist Vernon Severin—for a cross-cultural exchange and performance with Taiwan’s outstanding jazz artists.
Each musician brings a distinctive style: Andrews, known as the “Satchmo of the Projects,” is a cultural icon of New Orleans; Stone is an internationally active performer and educator; Severin was raised immersed in the musical traditions of Tremé and has performed worldwide. This collaboration will blend the rich heritage of New Orleans with Taiwan’s innovative spirit, delivering a diverse, improvisational, and electrifying jazz experience that invites audiences to feel the musical dialogue and sparks ignited between cultures.
